01/20/2014POST-CONSTRUCTION QUARTERLY TRAWL SURVEY FEBRUARY 2012 GULF LNG ENERGY, LLC JACKSON COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI Prepared for Gulf LNG Energy, LLC 125 Industrial Road Pascagoula, MS 39581 Prepared by Barry A. Vittor & Associates, Inc. 8060 Cottage Hill Road Mobile, Alabama 36695 March 2012 Post-Construction Quarterly Trawl Survey February 2012 Gulf LNG Energy Jackson County, Mississippi This report provides the fisheries data collected during a February 2012 Quarterly Trawl Survey for the Gulf LNG Energy post-construction monitoring. An 8-ft trawl with 3/4-in mesh was used to collect nekton in the Gulf LNG Energy ship basin and ship channel. A nearby non-dredged area was also surveyed. Sampling was performed on February 27, 2012. Trawl location coordinates and a map showing trawl paths are provided in Attachment A. Trawl samples were collected along nine transects -- three in each of the basin, ship channel, and non- dredged area. Trawls distances were approximately 1,400 ft. Depth and water quality parameters (Attachment B) were measured with a YSI 600XLM V2 Multiparameter Sonde Unit with a model 650 data logger. Nekton were identified onboard to the lowest practical identifiable level and counted. Trawl data are provided in Attachment C. A total of 485 specimens was collected. Basin trawls yielded 63.5% of all collected individuals, followed by the ship channel (27.0%) and control area (9.5%). Channel trawls yielded 18 species, followed by the basin (13) and control trawls (7). Spot (Leiostomus xanthurus) was the numerical dominant at all three sites, and comprised 49.7% of overall abundance. In addition to spot, white shrimp (Litopenaeus setiferus), brown shrimp (Farfantepenaeus aztecus) and Atlantic croaker (Micropogonias undulatus) were collected from all three sites. 1 Attachment C - Gulf LNG Trawl Data, February 27, 2012.
